About Garth Mackenzie

Garth Mackenzie first became interested in the stock market in 1994 at age 14 when he and his father began monitoring the share price pages of the newspapers together. His father picked up his interest and encouraged him to "mock trade" with fictitious money. Together they hand drew charts of shares on the JSE and monitored their movements.

By age 16 Garth decided that he wanted to try trading for real, so again with the help of his father, he opened his first stock broking account and invested his modest savings into the market. Garth is the first to admit that this was not a particularly fruitful exercise and that he was an awful trader up until age 22. He regularly saw his money disappear as he made all the common mistakes that traders make when they start out. But he never gave up - constantly coming back after earning enough money on weekends and school holidays to recapitalize his account.

Garth studied a BCom degree at RAU with majors in Economics and Accountancy. During his studies, he obtained a part time job with Deel-Smith Securities - a small futures broking business. Once he graduated, he was employed full time at Deel-Smith Securities and sent to London as a broker of futures and options.

In 2002 he was approached by BoE Stockbrokers to start a retail derivatives desk and to roll out Single Stock Futures to the retail market. This is where Garth really began to flourish, growing the desk at BoE into a substantial business with a large share of the retail derivatives market. He became a regular market commentator on various South African TV and Radio programs and developed an illustrious profile in the industry.

In 2008 he launched a managed futures fund for BoE. This fund grew by 40% during 2008 - a time when global stock markets saw their sharpest declines in modern history. Today Garth trades his own capital for a living. He is the founder and editor of Summit TV’s Traders Corner program. He also writes a monthly column in the investors Monthly Magazine and a weekly column for the Financial Mail..

About Andrew Todd

Andrew Todd has always had a passion for markets, trading and investments and started trading his own account from when he was fresh out of high school. After working and travelling abroad, he met Garth Mackenzie through a mutual friend while working in London and so began the friendship and solid business relationship. After returning to South Africa, Andrew worked at Liberty in the pension fund accounting department while still actively and successfully managing his own derivative account. However, trading was always his passion and when a position opened up at BoE Stockbrokers under the helm of Garth, he leapt at the opportunity.

Andrew worked at BoE Stockbrokers as a senior derivatives broker and co-managed the BoE managed futures fund with Garth and the fund grew around 40% when global markets were under severe pressure as a result of the global financial crisis. After a brief stint at Imara SP Reid, Andrew decided to trade his own capital and put more effort and focus into aiding Garth with TradersCorner.

Andrew has a BCom degree as well as a Honours degree in Investments from RAU and holds the Chartered Market Technician (CMT) designation from the Market Technician Association based out in the USA. He has nearly 10 years of retail broking experience and has been an active trader for nearly 18 years.

(1) Just stick around TC and all the insight thrown around here, worth more than money can buy, (2) keep to your plan and (3) always use Stop Losses. I have done that and my trading has blessedly turned for the good for the longest stretch in three years.

I had a blast trading this first year of trading. My goal was to break even after a year of learning by trial and error, but thanks the courses, daily game plans, and forum I have done way better than that. Thanks guys.

I have found the ultimate!

"After having subscribed to many different types of trading newsletters this year, finally I have found the ultimate! I am extremely impressed with your service and will continue to support it for years to come. This publication has without a doubt been worth every cent. One aspect that I particularly enjoy is the fact that you update the site on a daily basis and you lead your subscribers in the right direction regarding every trading tip mentioned on the site, never do I feel uncertain or left alone on what to do on any particular trade. Thank you for such a wonderful, informative service. I will definitely recommend it to every trader I know!"

I now have a more focussed approach to my trading!

Traders corner has been a great help since I subscribed and I have a more focused approach to my trading, it is teaching me to have more discipline in entering and exiting trades. The "daily market game plan" and "the analysis hit rate" are very useful tools to help decide on which shares to invest in especially for the derivatives trader.

The quantity and quality of advice cannot be matched!

I have been an investor/trader for the last 14 years. I find the daily trading updates (posted before the market opens) of great use. The position of all open trades is also updated on a regular basis.ã?? Too many trading advisors leave a trading position "idle". With TradersCorner you can react when required â?? immediately. The quantity and quality of advice cannot be matched â?? great value for money! Jaco van der Berg
